2024 Fresh Cherry Delivery Update

The 2024 tart cherry harvest is expected sometime during the last week of July. After harvest it usually takes a week or so to begin shipping.

Due to the uncertainty of the actual date of harvest, we currently do not know the 2024 crop yield, pricing, etc. However, as soon as we have additional information we will be able to share.

Can I order fresh cherries online?

Traverse Bay Farms' Michigan-grown fresh cherries are an ideal summer treat! The tart cherries are available in two-pound boxes from end-July through mid-August (dependent on current conditions) . These cherries are the "best of the best" from Northern Michigan cherry orchards! In addition to the fresh produce, we all offer cherry juice concentrate, dried cherries and more shipped to your door (these are year-round!)

These sweet, dark cherries that offer a crisp, fresh and naturally sweet flavor.  You’ll them enjoy from the moment you receive them to your home or office. These premium sweet cherries are larger than the more tart Montmorency cherries and are the first choice for those wanting to enjoy a great summertime snack. We hand select the fresh cherries delivered to your door. They will arrive packed with dry ice and offer the peak flavor profile.

When can you buy fresh cherries?

The Michigan fresh cherry crop begins the last few weeks of July and continues through mid-August. This means you’ll be able to enjoy fresh cherries either as a U-Pick Cherries or cherry delivery to your door during these summer months.

How do you ship fresh cherries?

Tart Cherries are a very perishable fruit. These means their shelf life is only a few short weeks from harvest to store - or delivered to you. Here is how we ship fresh cherries and deliver them to your home or office.

1. We remove any damaged or “bad” cherries to prevent them from affecting the other cherries in the box.
2. We then place the fresh sweet cherries in an inexpensive cooler. This allows the fresh sweet cherries to remain cool during shipment.
3. This cooler is then placed into a cardboard box for shipping.
4. Several layers of newspaper are placed on top of the cherries as a barrier.
5. A small package of dry ice is place on top of the cherries.
6. Close the cooler and tape the outer cardboard box closed.
7. We then ship via an overnight or two-day shipping method.

Are fresh cherries in season now?

The season for harvesting this ruby-red fruit is from end-July through mid-August. This is the only time of the year you can get tart fresh cherries delivered -  or enjoy U-Pick cherries in the Traverse Bay Farms cherry region.

Where can I buy fresh cherries online?

Traverse Bay Farms offers tart cherry delivery service during the cherry season. We ship fresh cherries during the months from mid-July through mid-August. We also offer fresh cherries in our Elk Rapids store and Bellaire stores.

These are our own retail stores that also offer cherry juice concentrate, strawberry poppyseed dressing and all of our other nationally award-winning gourmet food products. Here is a link to visit each of our retail stores in Northern Michigan.

PLEASE NOTE: Fresh cherries are a product of Mother Nature. They are naturally grown and not produced in a gourmet kitchen or in a laboratory. This means they are only harvested once a year. For that reason, you are only able to find the fresh fruit or have the fresh cherries shipped to you for a very limited time.

They are a also a very perishable and delicate fruit. Depending on the weather during the vital months of April and May, it could also affect the overall availability of the fresh fruit, and our ability to have tart fresh cherries delivered to your door. Please contact us for availability
